Drag set ups
#1
Hey just wondering what some of you guys are using for drag set ups as in lowering kits or setting the shocks so you dont pop wheelies, these are pavement drags 1/4 and 1/8 mile i cant keep the front end down i got my suspension in front lowerd completely my friend says they use square tubing to replace the shocks so that the a arms are completely strait out..any ideas??????

You can get some square aluminum tubing at Home Depot or Lowes and make your own struts. Remove the shocks and let the frame down until the a-arms are level. Measure the eye-to-eye distance between the shock mounts and cut/drill the tubing accordingly.
If you have the stock swingarm and sticky tires, you'll probably need a wheelie bar to launch hard.

I have not raced on pavement but this still should help if you dont have a wheelie bar is to soften your rear suspention so the rear end will absorb some of the will of the front end coming up. I have one pic on my page of my dirt drage set up. my rear is saging about 4 in. then when I get on it prob. another 2 in. it helps alot!!

dunerider,
i put a small floor jack under my front end and then let it down untill i got it where i wanted it,but watch out for the grease fittings they will hit if to low!i dont use a wheelie bar. i use a 15f 42r for the 1/8.with a stock motor with carb& carb mount filter, pipe, cdi . it will put you a little over 7 sec. and over 70mph.my bike is completelty apart for new motor,so look at my list and see if you or anyone needs anything i have.masters066@aol.com

unless you like spending time switching from drag race to trail trim, take a hold down strap on each shock, attach to top of frame and to lower A arm pull down til A arms are level with ground. this will always help in a big way from the front end popping up. this along with a soft rear shock works great.
