I was wondering if the noises that I hear coming from the front of my bike is normal? I have a 05 viper and when im low in the throttle it makes alot of pinging noises. When you pin the throttle, you can no longer hear it, but im not sure if it goes away or I just can't hear it over the exhaust. It runs great, but even at a idle the bike makes some pinging noises. Please let me know if this is just the way the motor sounds, or if I have a problem.

you might want to take it in.

 

How many hours do you have on the machine? Are you using premium fuel? Is your heat shield loose?

 

My 05 also rattles. I have already looked over the bike and cant find anything loose. It runs great tho.

 

Either too low of octane, OR most likely the cam chain tensioner. Take it out and pump it back up (it may have collapsed), put it back in and the noise may go away.

 

I also remember someone mentioning the springs on the exhaust rattling. Could this be your problem?

 

mine rattles also, everything is tight..has been rattling for ever just got used to it

 

Both of mine still make that noise from time to time and its the cam chain...

 

I noticed this too, only notice it at start up and idle though.

 

Prozack, you said its the cam chain. is it something that should be repaired?
I have noticed these ticks twice on my DS and it go away.
