My ds make a strange noise, which sounds EXACTLY like the noise of an untight chain...
My ds makin this noise for over a year... and i never worried about it cuz i thought the chain is untighted...
well after i tighted my chain + replaced the chain roller the ds makin the same sound!
and im worried it come from the engine, i dont know what to think!

does it make the noise when its out of gear idleing or reved or just when your riding?
could be a wore out cam chain tenchner. could be valves out of adjustment. these are just gesses to help out maybe some one else could chim in. also you might want to try picking up the rear end up put in gear and let it run and see if you can narrow down the noise location.

mine does the same thing at low idle in a high gear it rattles and ive heard of this happening to others also i wouldnt worry about it

 

If it only does it at low revs when making the motor work hard (luging) it will be the chain ratteling mine did this too as the ds has a big hole in the power band in the low end of the rev range.

since i did the end cap and manifold mod i dont hear it any more as the power gap has been filled

 

When i shift too soon and the motor run on low rpm's the noise appear badly!
i dont think its the valve adjustment cuz the motor runs ok ...

 

Could it be a stuck auto cam chain tensionor?

 

Mine does the same thing at low r's in a highter gear. Espescially when I am turning. Two things to correct this.
1. Properly adjust chain tesion w/ rider on machine. This requires two people.
2. Right thumb as far forward as possible!
Just say no to low rpm's!

 

Sorry to disappoin you but the chain is Properly adjusted and the noise appear in middle rpm's too
i assume in high rpm's too but i cant here it cuz of the engine...

Did you check the cam chain tensionor? It takes like 30 seconds -
