Could a custom car shop that ports car engines port a quad? such as the intake instead of buying the over $200 ported intake from mr.hp ( canadian price) could i just take mine to a car shop that does it and have them port it?

A good shop should be able to do it if you explain how it needs to be done.

And people wonder why Eric does not share his needle numbers on his carbs, or the specs on his cams.

Sandaholic , for your info Eric actually suggested i did just that when i was doing my porting . If he didn't want people to see his "secrets" then why would he post a large clear picture on his site ??

Just trying to help a fellow DS owner ...what is so wrong with that .

Boy I hope this does not turn into another "Morality" thread!!

Porting and polishing are pretty common with good builders and I assure you that Eric "MRHP" did not invent the the ported intake for the DS. HE DID however IMHO bring this forgotten idea back into the limelight by posting for all to see. He stands to gain more for getting out in the open and getting noticed.
The builder that is going to be doing my head work does not post his info for all to see with pictures but I can only imagine if he did what threads would / could come of it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any good performance shop could "port" your intake and head, but the real magic is when they reshape and clean up or change the flow. I dont think just anybody can do that effectively.

I have ported no less than a dozen buds intakes in the phoenix area and i don't charge a dime i truley like seeing hp gains!!!And once i sandblast a intake it looks just like eric's when i went to KT and seen eric's intake i told them straight up it looked like mine!!!!! funny it was the frist time we had ever met??????And dam that eric is a good porter If i did not do my own porting eric is who i would use.

i could have ported my own intake i have the tooling and have been a mechanic for 16 years

But i assumed that erics port job was based on trial and error dyno tested results to get the max gain that could be had. And for me the $150 was a fair price to pay for that service and he did a good job

Now i aint knocking any one for doing there own If you feel its the value for $ way to go or you have the experiance and knowlage to be sure you are getting every last drop of HP out of the manifold
more power to you.

Ps if you check the website it has been replaced with a blurred photo, and i would have done the same its a buisness not the redcross
