Default Baja sucks in 4th&5th

As you all know, my baja blew the bafful out of the end of my big gun exhaust. So i rejetted the bike to run without the bafful in and it runs great in first through third. When you go into 4th and 5th there seems to be no real acceleration. At pismo this weekend the baja would beat everybody off the line but when you hit 4th everyone passes me up. Im a big guy 335lbs so i thought maybe thats the problem, I got on my ds650 and raced against my baja, the baja jumped in front but i was able to pass it up down the strech. 1st through 3rd lot of snap, great response, 4th and 5th not much there. Really could use some help.

The baja has a dyno 195 which is between a mikuni 182.5 and 185 .I dont know where the needle is set at but when they pulled the plugs out they said they looked fine. It has a k&n filter and we cut most of the air box off of the top. I run without the lid and without the snorkels. The bike also has a white bros cdi, which said i would gain a 1000 rpms. try going from 7900 to 8500

Ditto.

Sounds like you may be running out of fuel on the top end. Try jumping your main jet size at least two sizes and see what that does.

With just a exhaust and K&N I would think you need to be around 175 mikuni. Sounds like you are a tad rich.

Yep me to, but a set of 60% springs cured my problems.

how I noticed; during a hard exceleration. once in forth or fifth, let off the throttle slightly. it will feel like you are still going the same speed, even though the rpms drop slightly. thats the tranny trying to catch up to the engine. I ran it a couple times like that to be sure. it was very slight at first. and hard to notice. unless you are looking for it.

if you open it up. you can measure the clutch pack thickness. cant remember what the spec is off hand. also the first few plates where turning blue on mine. the inside plates looked fine to me. I probably could have just went with heavier springs. but, I opted for all new since I was allready in there.
