Default Is 7 paddle...

Do you think 22x11x10 7 paddle is to less of a paddle for a piped ds650. Also going to get a 15T front sprocket and I weigh 170lbs. Or should I just get 8 paddle ?

I had alot better luck with 15 tooth 7 paddle 22" haulers when I had only piped and rejetted. I could get into third and stay in third on the steepest dunes. with 8 paddle 22" i was always shifting down into second. I liked my 8 paddle 20" better than both. Not for drags but for hill climbing.

Thanks for replies, the bomb will only have pipe and maybe get filter this season. Will most likely try 7 paddle.

LVracer- The main issue is the size of the tire hight. If it is a 20 in. you will lose the hook up. If it is a 22 inch 7 paddle it should be fine and will work good. I tested MPH(radar gun) on the hill with 20 inch 7 paddles opposed to 10 paddle 22 inch and lost 6-7 mph on the hill from the 7 paddles. IMO- The reason why I lost so much speed is because the 7 paddles were short and flat and did NOT dig AT ALL.

The 20 inch paddles just spin off the top layers of sand and does not dig and move the bike out.

So ANNIHILATER you think the 22s in 7 will work decent for pipe and filter. Or should I just get the 8.

I know you wanted mario's opinion but if you are planning more mods later you will like the 8 22" paddle better. If you are going to stick to Stage 1/2 you will like seven paddle with 14 or 15 tooth front.

Any stock riders have any opinions on this. I am going off what I used to find the best. Mario can turn 10 paddles almost as fast as 7 paddle so it is a matter of traction. (obviously he sets up alot of other factors just like us but he has alot more power to play with) With the normal guy it is gearing, rotating mass, etc......, and what type riding you do. when I was stock I could NOT turn 8 paddle 22" , 15 tooth front, in third up the steeper hills at St. Anthony. If you ride Glamis at a lower elevation and flatter terrain then you probably would have no problem pulling third. Now that I think of It I ran Olds hill rapping out third when piped, filter and rejetted with stock gearing and 20" 8 paddle extremes.

where do ya like to ride??
