Default What to look for

One of my buddies is looking into a used 2000 DS 650. Since he's not used to 4 wheelers he's asking me for some help. I'm just wondering what to look for in a used DS. I own a Banshee so I’m not familiar with 4 strokes. Is there any problem I should know about the 2000 model? Is 3500$ Canadian a good price? And what should I inspect?
Thanks for your help.

look at all the usual steering, shace the front wheels check for bad ball joints. pick up the rear end all the way listen for clunks when fully extended. my 2000 like to back fire out the carb come to find out I needed to up the pilot to 45 and change the carb slide spring to the 2001 type. stock kenda domonators are junk. take her for a spinn listen for any funny noises. all in all its a great bike. if it looks like he took care of it and its not all tore up its a good buy.
