my DS still isnt running, but i was messing with it again yesterday and after i try to crank it over, it seems like the only thing working is the starter, a little thump comes out of the pipe but not consistent. but after you let off of the starter it makes a funny noise under the seat, like letting air out of the motor or something of the sort, am i just now noticing this and its more than likely been there for a while or does it sound like something is for sure wrong.

try to pull start it...if that works you probablly need a valve adjustment...the noise under the seat is more than likely a back fire through the carb!

i could be wrong though??

Put your finger over the crankcase ventline hose and see if it pressures up right away or has any rhythum to the engine when your cranking it over. If so....that was a symptom when our rings were gone.

i meant pull it or even push it down a hill put in gear, let out clutch, give it gas and go (make sure you're rolling pretty fast before you try and start it!)!!! but going down a hill and it don't start will make a fun push home!!

Or if you have a vehicle present. Toll your quad around and try to put it in gear.

when sitting on the quad, the ventline is located on the bottom front righthand side of the motor. It's about 3/4 of an inch in diamater or so. To pullstart it, you have to have enough MOMENTUM and TRACTION to turn the motor over manually with the rear tires. You do this by butting it in say 3rd or 4th and pull it behiend a vehiecle, and when your clipping along and on a nice surface like pavement, pop the clutch and give it some gas when it fires. Make sure the key is on as well, and the killswitch is in the run position.

oh hell i just misunderstood, i am used to my old utility quads and they all have "pullstarts" ya know? and thats the first thing that came to mind when i heard pullstart. i will check as many things as i can on my own, like i said, im real dumb when it comes to mechanics. i will have some help sometime soon and will let you guys know the problem and the solution for future reference's, just in case someone has similar problems. thanx for all the help..
