Default installing cams

im trying to finish putting my motor together and for the life of me i cant get my chain to fit over my cams.i have the cams in bridge bolted down to the head. i lined everything up and started with the chain over the exaust cam first pulling it tight to the intake, but im missing about a link from being able to get it over...i still have my tentioner out and i am not bound up on the bottem from what i can see. is it easier to pull the cams out and do them one by one then put them in the bridge? or am i missing somthing here? thanks Rocky

I don't think it is possible to install the cam chain while the cams are bolted down in the cam bridge. With only the bottom half of the cam bridge on the head, install one cam at a time. Tilt the individual cam to get the chain on the gear then put the cam in its carrier. Get it lined up (timing marks) before you bolt on the top half of the cam carrier.
