Default ds800??

650Viper, why would you leave a Home like that? (your house forsale) That's a beautiful place. On with my message; I couldn't find anything about the 840 as far as information. So I guess that Sandbomber may have a custom crank? or the bore and stroke is completely different all together than the rest. I really appreciate ya'lls help. Otherwise I can only rely on websites. Therefore I wouldn't have learnt these things. I wonder why HPR doesn't list this stuff on the Website. I don't call them or anything. I don't want waste their time until I'm able to purchase. Obviously he's pretty busy. Thanks agian DuneMe and 650Viper.

Default ds800??

In the beginning. . .

There was Ron Wood and Pami. . . Ron Wood has gone with power gains through better air flow, higher compression, etc. Basically they put bigger carb(s) on, a great pipe on and added higher compression piston and cams for a solid running bike. Their Stage III is a set-up most other builders offer and is the highest HP gain you can make without a bore change (or turbo.)

Pami offered the same things that Ron Wood offered (short of a pipe) and went into the engine for various bores. Gottfried (Team Pami) developed a cylinder casting of aluminum with a Nikasil coating. This cylinder offered a 105.5 bore and required boring of the center cases for installation. The Pami cylinder was designed to mate to a stroked crank for a total displacement of 760cc. The stroking was done by an off-set connecting rod pin using the same brass bearing the stocker uses.

As far as I know, Pami was the first to offer a stroked crank on the 650 engine. I think they did it on the BMW before the DS even came out???

A few years ago, TVI started to get involved with sleeving (steel sleeve) the stock 650 cylinder from a 100mm bore to a 105.5 bore. I think Falicon Crankshafts was doing this work for them but, I don't know for sure. Not long after that they started offering a roller-bearing stroked crank. this bumped the displacement to about 800.

About a year ago HP Research started selling their cylinder casting. The HP Research 730 Cylinder is a Pami Cylinder with a thinner skirt since it isn't designed for a stroke. Not longer after that they started working with Falicon as well to offer a roller stroke and bump up the total displacement to the 830-840 range. With these stroked units the cylinder skirt is thicker requiring the same center case maching the Pami 760 requires.

That pretty much takes us to where we are today from what I know of it. . . I'm sure if I'm wrong I'll be corrected

But, correct me if Im wrong. I thought HPR had done a few 715's which are basically a stroked 650?

From Falicon's site. . .

"Get more power and better durability for your DS-650 with our Stroker Crank Roller Bearing conversion. We convert the DS-650 crank from a plain bearing to a roller bearing, and change the stroke for increased displacement - 715cc."

Did HP Research do these before they did the cylinder?

I knew Falicon offered these but, didn't know HP Research got in on them too.

Who's running one?

Yep, I believe Randall ran one last year at the Kentucky Fall Nationals or something like that....I'll do a search....stay tuned

Yep, 222 ran his and they called it a 715 National. It was just a hair faster in 600ft than the Genesis...what what I can gather.

What size connecting rod are you talking about? Falicon's 91mm connect.rod with the roller crank? I wonder if sandbomber's 840 is a 108bore utilizing Falicon's Roller Stroker.
