Default need help (530 Chain)

I just put a 17 tooth front gear on and now i need to add alink or maybe 2 . I'm still using my stock chain . My local dealer does not sell half links or links by them self. Also i need to know about using a master link clip style or try to find a new press on style chain cut to lenth like the stock chain, ( just buy a whole new chain??) thanks

Default need help (530 Chain)

I've run a 17 on both my 02 and 03 without a problem with the chain. I had plenty of room. What year is your bike?

i also put a 17t sprocket on my 2000 ds. theres no prob with needing to add a link. the rear wheel axle bearing is off center of the housing, that lets you adjust the tension of your chain. i marked where it was before i put the sprocket on, and when i was done is was almost in the exact same spot. The only thing that has to be done for the 17t is you have to grind out the case saver a little bit.

Agreed with everyone else....
YOU shouldn't need to change out the chain.

There's TONS of room in the adjustment to get what you're looking for.

Did you try to adjust the chain tension properly??
