Default Getting ready for my build, any advice

Im getting ready to go to big bore kit soon and I have been reading alot of threads about HPR, TVI, Pami ect.
I have spoke to 222 and he thought I should go with the 730 jug and high comp piston. Is this a good place to
start. and where should I go from there. I have about $2000.00 to spend this go around. Any Ideas? Also
I read the Eric built a 650 stock bore that was beating alot of big bores in the builders class just curious what
he did. Thanks in advance for your help. I hope I dont start any huge arguments.

if i had to do it all over again, i would of started with the race head and cams before i did the big bore..i think if u just do the big bore and hi comp piston without doing any head work, i think u might be dissapointed in your gains...jmo

Thanks for replying bigshow. Im kinda surprised that I didnt get alot more responses. Seems to be a hot topic
around here. I guess you have to be a well known member I guess. Let me ask you this for the budget that I have
(2 grand) What would you do first? Im currently running Mrhp end cap , No Toil foam filter, and jetting. I see that
your head was done by TVI. how was your luck with those guys? I spoke with them a month ago , The guy I talked
too (Gary I think) was not much help. Should I be thinking more along the lines of carb replacement, CDI, etc.
Thanks for your help, I really want to get this started.

I'm proof that's not entirely correct.

I have a Pami 703 with NO head work. Just the dual carbs added on. And I think I've got a pretty fast DS.

Last time I had it dyno'd (2 years ago). It was at 60hp. And I'm sure it's making more now just by dropping the octane level down.

with only having 2000$ dollers to spend , i thought he might be better off getting pipe , carbs , cams, head work, ect ect.. if he got the big bore that would almost take up all of his cash..in my opinion, a big bore really doesnt give you arm ripping power with out the proper set-up to go with it..jmo

what ever you decide to go with make sure you stay with one builder. dont be like me and try to use stuff from different builders. becouse your 2 grand will be wasted and you wil have to start all over. good luck in whatever you choose.l

Was thinking about this a little over the weekend. I really like the Stage III Ron Wood (or equal) kit and really enjoyed the added power of the 680 (2mm larger bore) kit I had. Not the power of the 760 but, I think for the average duner more than enough power. You guys that ride at sea level and don't climb major dunes probably don't need the kind of torque a big bore has.

For $2000 I'ld look at a high compression piston, cams, heavy valve springs, heavy clutch springs set-up. This will leave you $$ for a new carb if you want it.

A high compression piston and cams set-up will get you some impressive HP gains.

The real question, are you looking to win at the drags or looking for a little more HP for trail / dune riding?

If you want to win at the drags. . . look into a NOs set-up. Viper650 has a big-bore killer and very little $ invested.

Whetever your decision, do it all at once. If that means you have to save for another year, do it. You will waste a lot of money buying things then opening it up again and buying again.

I am w/ everyone in here pretty much. I say go stock bore high comp, cams, springs, and with the money left over do the carb.
It should roll out nice. I think you be happier than if you had just done the cyl.
As the builder, cant go wrong w/hpr.
