HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEAS
#29
I just sold my fully loaded tricked out CRF 450 a couple months ago to get my current Bomb.
The reason I sold the CRF was primarily due to 2 reasons: #1 they closed the MX track here in Vegas and #2 the motorcycle guys I used to ride desert/dunes with are all out of the sport for the most part. I still have a lot of neighbors, friends, and camping families with toys but they're all on quads.
Now, this is just me but I prefer bikes over quads across the board for all riding conditions for a multitude of reasons but primary because of: power-to-weight ratio, ride quality is much better, and because (IMO) it's more of a challenge/workout if you're at a high skill level. With all that said, if you don't have a nearby track/great riding area AND repeat AND have other BIKE buddies to ride with it's not much fun. So much was it not fun to be the only one on a bike in my group I sold my bike and now am without one for the 1st time in over 20 years. I miss not having a nice MX bike but not so much that it overrides having it sit in the garage collecting dust 99% if the time becuase of nobody to ride with or because I don't feel like driving 140+ miles round trip to the nearest track.
One of the thumpers I had before the CRF was a YZ426 and after owning them both in my mind the Yamaha design and it's power deliver is hands down better than the Honda but Yamaha lost me when they dropped 5th gear in the YZ version.
Have fun!

thumper650, I thought it was going to be a Pami 760 or was it going to be an 800 or was it going to be 800 NOS w/ turbo?? Then it was going to be jeffroe's awsome DS. ( I wish I had it!! ) Now it's a toss up between a CRF450 or just modding your DS..... Like sandmand430 and the rest of these guys think and will tell you. Figure out what you "really" want and stick with that project. When it's done and for whatever reason it's not what you expected, sell it and move on to the next project.
Now I know thumper650, that in Corvallis they have a pretty good school system and, IMO, a great University! (Go Beavers)
So I'd be inclined to say that after trying to read some of your post that you look into their schools or even "Hooked on Phonics" and stick with that first!
I'm just messing with you thumper!! :-)
Good luck with what ever you finally decide!!
