Recall received today on My DS 650. Rear axle bearings. ????????
#1
I received a recall notice today on my 04 DS650. They want me to stop riding right away and get it fixed at the dealer. The only dealer close to me is about 45 minutes away and they want me to leave my bike and pick it up in a couple of days. I do all the service on the bike myself. How hard is it to grease the rear axle bearings ? I know someone out there has done it. Thanks, D

Too late! My '05 DS rear axle siezed yesterday while riding. Will not budge! I go talk to my neighbor, who happens to be the owner of the local dealership and he tells me that they received a bulletin from BRP that the rear axle bearings do not have enough grease.

I just received my letter yesterday too. I will tell you this. It's probably not a real hard thing to do, but if you happen to have some damage it will not be covered unless you let a dealer look at it. Ya it's a pain in the ***, but it could save you alot of money. I have been through that before so I will be taking my bike to the dealership.

I am a BRP Tech.. You need to take it into a dealer of your choise. There might be damage that you dont see.... There were a few DS that got sent out that did not have enough grease in the carrier.I will cost you nothing. But will save lots of $$ and greaf....You are lucky it did not lock up while you wee ridding at high speed..

i've had my 04 for about a year and half now. no problems yet. i've put alot of miles on it too. chances are mine has enough grease?? i plan on pulling it all apart an greasing it myself this weekend. if i find something damaged, i will put it back together and take my ds to the dealer so they can replace it.
