Default Anyone changed there own shift forks?

Well the DS did it to me again, I took it on vacation to Mexico with me and second gear crapped out on me. Last year while on vacation it started back firing and dying on me(receased exaust valve). I swear this thing gets jealous, I was paying more attention to relaxing and drinking beer than it and well it would have no part of that, I'll show you I'll keep on popping out of second ha!!!

Anyhow enough of my ranting, has anyone ever attempted changing the shift forks out on your own. I dont consider myself a master mechanic but Im no slouch. Is it really that hard? I have printed the instruction off of Eaglecollectors site, GREAT INFO!!! but 10 pages has got me worried.

Nobody? How about you just type me a number 1-10, 1 easy(childsplay) 10 being hard (requires a DS Guru).

it's not too bad to do but there certainly are lots of details to pay attention too and a couple of specialized tools you'll need, if you have the confidence and common sense go for it!

Thanks Major! I believe I have read somewhere that you could purchase the newer forks and put them in the older DS's because the newer ones where stonger? Is this true or was someone blowing smoke?
