Talked to the dealer on sat and he said the new 450 -500 class sport quad will be an single efi 2 stroke , BUT..... it's gonna be a belt drive ????? WTF ! Also there is going to be a 250 cc 2 stroke atv . ALSO belt drive . Keep your ds's and banshee's a while longer. He did have good news for the 4x4 guys that the new 800 v twin efi will be 639 lbs --- Almost 300 lbs lighter than the polarass 800 . about the same weight as the grizz

From what I have seen on the Outlander 400, BRP has one of if not the best IRS design. I am not a huge fan of IRS. I like a sporty ride that is in general conflict with IRS. But that said if this new 800 v-twin is EFI I think I will have a very low hour 800 sportsman for sale.

belt drive....HMMM. about going after "The scrambler market" I honestly didnt think there still WAS a scrambler market! lmao... True no one really has a sport 4x4 (but then again most newer 4x4's are pretty sporty) but the scrambler is just damn heavy (like most of the rest of polarass' line up)
Hopefully this 2 stroke efi 450 will be fast enough and be a good design, so it at least gives the yfz/450r a BIT of competition.

in this month dirt wheel issue there is spy photos and a small article written on the new bombardier quad. dirt wheel magazine say it will most likely be an outlander 800 v-twin. anyway in the next issue of the magazine there will be a full feature of the new quad because bombardier will unveil it to them.
as far as i am concerned rumours of a two stroke quad from bombardier have been floating since forever.
and even if the two stroke technology is now superior to any four stroke engine on the planet right now,i really doubt we will ever see such a machine.
the market is on 4 stroke because there is more money to be made here and the 4 stroke quads are more expensive. and the aftermarket is selling a lot of stuff for those 4 stroke machines. 4 stroke parts are expensive and bring lots of money to those companies.
a 450 4 stroke machine is more viable to them because they will follow the trend.
sooner or later all the major atv manufacturers will have 450 4 stroke sport atv.
i really wish that bombardier is gonna come up with a two stroke machine, but its only a dream that we have had for so long and its still a dream.

They tested several 2-stroke variations over the last few years...still, I'd bet on a four stroke. Remember too, that unlike the big four, Bomb doesn't have a 450 available yet in the Rotax lineup, so there is some development time that needs to take place, and before I hear "Aprilla has the 450 twin," that will not be finding it's way into a production quad anytime soon.
The Phantom......returns you to you regularly scheduled program....

Is the Aprilla engine even in a motorcycle right now? Is it part of any machine currently in production? It wasn't designed for a quad so for it to show up in one there would have to be a couple of production years of it in something else first. Isn't this dealer show like next week? I'll be really happy when that hits and the speculation ends. (I'm not looking to buy anything anyhow.)

Dry Weight 765/347 lbs/kg
from the website. Even if the weight you sugested was true I'm thinking it more like 126lbs.

I'm just stating what the dealer told me . 300lbs sounded like a streach to me also . BUT have you ever lifted a polarass out of a mudhole ? It feels like 1000 lbs ! So I wouldn't trust any given dry weight from a manufacturer we all know as a whole they all fudge on the weights to get consumers interested . The bomb products are generally way overengineered ! I donn't think I've ever heard of a bomb frame , swingarm , a-arms , or anyother part just cracking from normal use . Unlike most all the other manufacturers at one time or another have had major component failures . Except maybe honda . The 2 stroke thing is very well alive and kicking , just think , even though its a belt drive , a 500 single 2 stroke efi can easily put out 40 hp stock . Now with a pipe and more compression , and a power commander for the efi you will easily see 50 hp with no gears to shift ! But I have heard it will be in a smaller frame and not a ds style chassis .
