After you do what hightower said!
i have a 02 mine sat all winter on the kitchen table and it is my understanding cause we have the 02 with the bleeder line behind the jugg to the oil tank the bleed screw behind the filter is pretty much useless, when i got mine back together i put oil in cranked it over till oil squirted out where the filter put my filter on cranked it a little more till the light went out and went riding, I do think I am gonna invest in one of those inline esr coolant gauges, I forget who has one but a few on here do with pics, as far as oil isnt there a plug beside the oil pressure sending unit on the back of the motor? the dealer told me I could pull the plugg and fill that up with oil to prime the system, couldn't I just screw a oil pressure gauge into that hole and when i wanna see my oil pressure look under the carb at the gauge if my red light comes on? i have seen harleys with oil gauges back there also, anyone know what I mean?

yes I see what you are saying, but it would probably be cheaper to purchase the sunpro gauges. If you look around on this forum many people have this mod now (including myself thanks to country joe) the triple gauges are only 30 bucks, and having the gauge up on the dash is definitely nice.
