I just came back from there. I think the time frame was bad as it rained a bit and was on the cold side, however we made the best of it.
Big Waynester was there on his YFZ450 and this guy was simply untouchable. I could no believe how quick he was on that 450. Hands down he is the fastest YFZ I ever saw and all he had was an exhaust. My mom came out there too and agreed he hauled buttcheeks. I hate to admit but perhaps he is better off on the Yammy.
A bud of mine who got injured before the trip decided to be generous and lend me his Baja DS650. All it had was jetting, a white brothers cdi, and Big Gun exhaust. I raced a bunch of bikes and I am glad I am an owner of the mighty DS. It did fairly well on a setup like this and with crappy sand shark tires to boot. I rode a YFZ and a modded torque monster Raptor and they all left me wanting to straddle back onto my DS650.
I didn't see any DS650's out there but I did see one, a forum member.. I believe his nick is AMD64DS or something.. I can't recall. I saw him chatting with Wayne as well. It was fun and I had a blast. My mom dug it too.... and my son climbed all the hills as well on his little 90. Waynes son' was diggin the mini as well.
I can't get enough of the sand!!!

Glad you had a blast, sorry I missed out on it!
How deep does the wet sand go, any chance it'll get dry in a week? I'm heading up there next week...
Wayne's bike is tuned and tweeked, he's got the jetting spot on for the Pulse Charger pipe and RWR intake, we all dynoed together a while back and his #'s were not far behind that of mine and the built Raptor with us making his power to weight ratio killer!

Prior to last week it had been pretty dry up there, so the sand is not saturated to bad, both Sat. And Sunday it had rained, but the sand was powdery (sp) by mid day, in most areas. People were dragging at the old drag strip, it is only partially under water, still plenty of room to race, a lot of drags were at the newer drag area.
It was nice meeting Camds650 and his group.
Dave and I didn't get to ride together to much because there was only 1 quad between 2 kids and one of us was watching the boys. Dave, I hope your Jersey friends had a good time it was nice meeting them and your hot mom.

Wayne,
Whens your next trip to SL planned? We will be putting together a trip for the end of June with the Trailmasters. The gixxer project is running extremely well. I cant wait to throw some sand with this thing.
Its good to hear the old drag strip is back in business. It was the only safe place to race. Well, at least safer than other places. Hopefully, we can hook up this summer, last summer was a bust.

Gary, I took a temp job at the post office, I'm 99% sure I will have to work every Saturday so I"m not sure whenI will make it up there.
The old drag strip is much smoother than where they were racing, it should be a good time with the gixxer.
