what do u think is faster, a stock yfz450 or a stock ds650? I have raced a stock predator with my ds and i beat it by about 10-12 quad lengths. Some people say that a predator is as fast as a yfz but i never got the oppertunity to race one. I also raced a banshee with trinnity exhaust on it and i also beat that. Are the yfzs faster then Banshees?

 

When I worked for a dealership we ran a stock DS and a stock Pred on the road several times while switching back and forth riders. The Pred was about a half tire faster than the DS but pretty close each run. This from a guy who is Bomb all the way. For some reason this is only the case on pavement. I kill Preds at the desert and in the dirt. I think a YFZ is even faster in stock form. They are lighter and have more horsepower

 

In my experience, it depends on who gets the holeshot between the DS and YFZ. As far as a Predator beating a DS on pavement, two words come to mind.......NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!! Every Predator I have raced, I've beat, although not by much (1-2 machine length's in 300 feet).

YFZ's have more HP than a DS? Guess again. Yes they are lighter, but the DS has tons more torque, which helps pull the extra weight.

 

YFZs are fast. It all depends on who is riding the machine. Bigwaynester YFZ was smoking everything out in Silver Lake. I had a Baja DS with a RWR Pipe, WB CDI, and jet kit and Wayne was killing me everywhere (out of the hole, mid, top, etc).

However, he did have Haulers on his bike and I had crappy Sand Sharks. He is lighter than me as well as his bike. He had traction and weight in his corner.

 

i have two friends with predators, both are pretty quick, i think with the predators its all in the gearing. but stock for stock, hands down goes to the ds, after that its who spends the most...

 

The yfz and ds are very close stock, usually with the yfz edging out a bit. Rider ability, weigh and traction have a LOT to do with the outcome of a race. I am about even with my friends yfz (has some mods) and we can swap wins depending on the surface, because I only spin in the grass.

Predators are also quick. I rode an 04 and man that thing revved to the moon. I think the powerband on a Pred is friendlier than a YFZ. I have yet to see a YFZ and Pred go at it. I know those YFZ are really uncomfortable after a while of riding.

 

^^ after riding awhile? I am uncomfortable after I mount the damn things! I just cant seem to get used to a yfz...even one of my buddies has a tricked out mx yfz (sweet suspension setup and great power) but I still feel like I am just sitting on top of it and its just squirrly (not the good squirlly either!) They are quick, but I still prefer the comfort and torque of my DS.

 

LEP7 get the facts straight. This isnt an opinion this happened like I said while changing riders over and over. It was close but it happened. Do you know how much HP any of the machines have? On the pavement its not as much about traction as it is motor.
