Nitrous switches
#1
For all you nitrous guys. My first question is what micro switch has everybody had the best success with. Until now I have ran the button, but i am now to the point I cant push, shift and steer fast enough. I need to get rid of the button. Second, has anyone found any difference in rpm range between all motor and nitrous. What I mean is, if you are tuning your motor without nitrous for 8000 rpm, have you found the bike to like a lower rpm with nitrous, or a higher rpm? Unless I just over rev in a lower gear, I cant seem to get the bike to pull up to the peak rpm the motor was built for, while spraying. It is pulling good, but it falls off alittle to much. It could be gearing, but if somebody has found an rpm difference that would help before I started adjusting. If it helps I'm running 11-1 comp, Mr Hp nitrous cams, ron woods exhaust, oh and vortex ignition. Hey how about the timing? Maybe I need to run an retarded map while spraying? I dont have no detenation problems. Thanks for any help, Jed.

i had the chance to run a nos bike for the jamboree and was very nice! but the button was not cool. 650viper that is a very good question! have the nos at the right rpm so when the motor is luging it dont spray. keep the rpm up and then spray. with out hitting a button. i hope someone chimes in i would love to know how, thinking of doing same thing.

Jed,
I am not putting your stuff down by any means but if you want to get into the real stuff, go get ya a NOS or NX wet system. For the size of shots your running and from what I hear want to run later, I dont think the Boon and these carbs have what it takes. Combine that with a good set of guages and a bottle heater and you will get precise shots every single time. Yes wet systems have more parts and are not as simple but there is no way I would run NOS on my quad if wasnt injecting some fuel along with it.
When I had my NOS as well as when Majorecho was chemicaly enhanced, altough be it at different times, we had no problems rapping it to the moon, infact one of our biggest fears was over reving it. Try adjusting your Vortex to near stock and run it set like that. It will have a bit less advancement. Ask Matt about riding mine on the NOS and he could give you a real world comparo between mine and your two's bikes.
Again. not tryin to sound like an a$$ and wish I could help more.

I ran a micro switch that was engeniously desighned by Majorecho ( go figure ). It was on the carb itself. Where you run the Lec 46 I am not sure what to do there. I am sure I could help ya figure out something though. Most engage them at full throttle but a few had problems with vibration and the switch engaging and disengaging when they would hit bumps. I beleive mine was set-up to engage at a little over 3/4 so at full throttle it was a deffinante engagement and that is what I recomend.
The hardest part was learning to keep from pegging the throttle on your launches in first gear. With the 25 shot, if I hit the NOS on the launch the front end would sky and if you didnt let off you would be laying under a DS blanket. I would do a quick shift 1st gear start to get motion and then hit second really quick, peg it and hold on.
Unfortunatly I didnt have the NOS for long before I lost my quad so I never realy had a chance to perfect my riding techniques on the bottle.
If I remember correctly you reside in Logan??? If so, that is part of my territory for my job and visit there atleast once a month. My next trip coming up shortly. If you would like to meet up for lunch or after hours I would be glad to sit and BS NOS with ya. I have a few tricks I have learned since I had mine. I mean hey, someone has to keep DSa in his place . Actually I wouldnt mind picking your brain for a bit on some sled info aswell. Let me know if your interested in meeting up.
