1- my carb is getting dirt in the jet each and every trail. i think i will put a fuel filter on it. did anybody installed one on their DS? does any type of fuel filters will work or do i have to check out the hole size, and other things? and if somebody have some hints to install them, it would be great!

2- the rubber between the carb and the motor is cracked as hell. i will buy a new one but would like to know if it happened to anybody? and could it be the reason why there always was dirt in my carb?

3- i bought an oil filter and oil but the filter is not exactly like the original one. they have the same shape but the new one i bought has a spring in it, and the original one doesn't. the name of the filter is hi-flo and on the box it is written: for rotax,bmw and aprilia engines. i think it should work. does anyb ody have an advice on this?

 

P14, The crack it the intake adapter will not usually draw trash into the carb. The vacum created by the compression stroke will more than likely draw trash into the cylinder. The trash you are finding in the carb is usually from the fuel. Suggestion, drain fuel into a clear container and inspect. If trash is present, disgard fuel and flush again untill no trash is found. A fuel filter will help but if tank is kept clean and fuel juggs are clean upon filling tank, you should't have any problem w/ dirt getting in tank.

 

yeah that's what i thought too for the dirt issue. but i cleaned the tank like 10 times and dismantled the gas valve too, cleaned it very well. my filter is clean like a brand new one. could it come from the 2 black vents on the carb?

 

oh yeah i noticed another problem (it'S starting to have a lot of them[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img]) my high beam wont come up, i dismantled the button on the bars and cleaned everything very well, and it does the same thing. does anybody had this problem? how much does it cost to replace it?

 

did you check the bulb ?

if you already have crap in the float bowl of the carb there could be bits in there for a while you wil need to check it as well if you havnt already done so ?

 

well it's about the 5873032 time i dismantle the carb to clean it... i think it'S clean [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/img]


and no i dont think it is the bulb, the light was brand new and they weren'T lighting up at all, and my other light was doing it also....
