Carb or CDI bang for buck HELP
#1
Right now I have the money to buy a carb or a CDI box probably a ron woods or a new carb.My bike is stock except for the ron woods complete exhaust and a ported intake K & N fillter jet kit and just baught the 520 chain kit from sidewinder. I am not sure what type of carb or what size I should buy but want one that is ridable not just a drag carb also which on will give me the best bang for the buck.

Its hard to say cdi run you 100 to 200 bucks, a carb will run you anywhere from 300 to how much you are willing to spend. Since you have some work done already i would like the carb. With the carb your adding some more hp, with the cdi you have the same hp your just getting higher rpms. Buy the carb then tell your wife it wont run without the cdi. You know most of these parts have to come in combo packages. Thats how i explain it.

There were some guys talking about putting the 450r carb on their ds and liked the performance gains. And the price was around 200-250 bux new. Try looking up the threads, If you can go this route then use the left over mmoney toward a cdi. Juast mt opinion. Chiknhawk

OOP's It's a 660 but who cares after I bought my Bomber I get on my raptor and it feels like a piece of crap. But it is a very good running bike and is very reliable I have three kids who ride the crap out of it.
As for trying to fake out the wife it could never happen I made the mistake of getting her involved in my hobbies she knows more about motors than most guys she has seen me trouble shoot motors and rebuild about 10 banshee motors and has asked questions the whole time now when I work on bikes it's like having a supervisor watching over you.
Men Beware...

From what I've read, the carb is the "heart and soul" of ds650 performance. The stocker is an OK carb, but not a very good high performance carb. It's the same carb thats on grizzly. I would get a carb over a cdi box, I'm looking to do this myself.
