replace piston
#1
I went throught my bottom end on my 650 and it needs replaced. My local dealer wanted 500 bucks to do it and i said no way. He said to do the replacement you need to remove the engine. I thought id ask you guys if that is true? Any help for this process is greatly appericated.

If all you are doing is replacing the piston you do not have to pull the motor. It is however a pretty tight squeeze to get the head out and the head bolts will flex a bit to do it. Once it is off all you have to do is machine down the top motor mount so it is rounded off on the back side to clear the frame when you put the head back on.
I would sugest while you are in there you might as well do a aftermarket piston and some cams and really wake up that bad boy.

Just did mine, you can also take out the front motor mount bolts and loosen the back, This will allow you to tip the motor forward a little bit. That bottom allen screw is a booger to get off that ait intake.
