The engine used for the possible new 380-Twin
#1
From what I gather, the engine rumored to be used in the rumored 380 twin, 2-stroke is actually a Rotax 368cc powerplant and is used in snowmobiles.
Does anyone have any specs on it showing HP, torque, RPM or etc.? Thanks, I'm just a little curious about what might be around the corner.
Let's hope this one will be a little smaller than the DS, have reverse and have about the same price tag as the other hi-po quads that are out today.

I sure hope they come out with this machine, because if they can get it under 400 pounds, I'll be selling my Banshee REAL quick.
I don't know why they would put reverse on a high performance quad, when their hi-po snowmobiles, which are a lot heavier, don't have them.

Not to upset anyone but I own a SKI-DOO with the 380 cc motor. IT is not a high per. engin. I can top 100km(60mph) on it w around 35 hp(I think). THis is on the bottom of ski-doo's line. So if they make this ATV it will either be a 4 x 4 a la POLARIS or they will modify the engine to hell to be a performance quad. Only time will tell.

This motor has been around for 20 years since 1980 on the Ski-doo 4500 Citations. The motor is still in there new 370 formula Ski-doo its not anything crazy I can stay with one on a 1983 Yamaha 340 Enticer across a frozen lake.I think this Rotax pushes about 36 HP and if this is the motor they will be using it's also a fan cooled motor.

The 380cc engine that Bombardier uses in its sleds will not be used in a quad. For one, its fan cooled. Not the hot set up for a quad. Second, it's not even close to high performance. If they do indeed build this machine, my bet is on a purpose built engine. By the way, the twin track Formula one sleds Bombardier built for oval racing had 340cc engines that produced over 100hp. That ought to make you think.
