I'm thinking about going with msd ignition set up. I currently have a cheap one installed now that raises my rpm by a 1,000 and advanced my timing a little. I have been having harder starting than usual, I already had to replace the one way clutch for the starter. Has anybody used MSD? or any recomendations on a good ignition box?

 

I vote for the Vortex. It works fine out the box for most, but if you have something exotic it can be programmed to match. From what I understand about the MSD is it cost more, its bulky, and it is slightly more complex. The MSD does all finer tuning with the timing, but I wouldn't even know where to start with it and would probably end causing more harm then good!

 

Id vote for the Vortex too - simple, small and very flexible. - and nearly bullet proof!

 

I can't compare the two, but the MSD can be used right out of the box with the factory settins.

That's what I've done and everyone on here knows I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff!

 

I would have to say go with the Vortex CDI.

I checked out the vortex, That is what I'm going to order. I don't like the size of the msd box.

Just so you know, the MSD can be mounted underneath the front headlight and fascia. So, if you Really really really really like the MSD, it can be mounted there.
