I can vouch for this carb....I drag race so if your going to do any trail riding, I cant vouch for that...because I dont trail ride.

It made a huge difference on my stock motor from the bottom to the top.

I can't say from experience but I've been told that the 48 is too large for a stock bore. A Lectron 46 or a TM45 would be better especially if you do riding that is not strictly drag racing.

There are allot of guys here that can give you a better evaluation on it then I can but I thought I'd just throw out what I was told.

Well, it just all depends on what you have in mind for the motor aswell...because the 48 is definitely the way to go on a built motor. Im only running the 48 on my bike because Im not finished by any means. Yeah, Im running a bone stock engine with a set of barnett cluthches in it right now. But, as soon as it goes then its time to step up. I will not have to buy another carb...if I stay with a single carb setup. LOL!

i thought the 48 didnt fit stock engines, only the 46 did. Dont you at least need a ported intake?

Yeah, you get the intake port matched to the carb...you still need to get it port matched if you decide to run the 46.

i trail ride with mine quite a bit . too me, i think it works better on the trails then my tm45 did. Thats not a knock against the 45 because it is a great carb also, but to me the 48 overall is a better carb...the thumb pull alone makes trail riding easier... but then again, i didnt get the 48 untill i had my motor built, so i really cant speak for a stock motor..

I have the 48 lectron. I couldn't be happier with it. I have the big bore 720 with the ported intake. I purchased the carb from mr. hp before I did the big bore on the stock bore 650 cc. It would start to load up on fuel at idle a little. It never fouled the plugs and always started on the first crank. Gives great power increase and bottom end. Be sure you have a good pipe and open air box for this carb. I mostly ride trails with my ds and love to be on the drag strip.
Your will need to get an extended thumb throttle to help keep your thumb from falling off or use the twist throttle set up. I would definaitly go with this carb if you plan on more engine work. Have your gas can ready, mine drinks gas like crazy.

I also have the Lectron 48. It can be bit of a bugger to tune but once your there OH BABY. You will have to get the ported intake but you gaining there also. I just got back from Dunefest which was my first real ride on it since my build. The carb worked great from top to bottom we rode trails, dunin and at the drag strip. We put it on TVI dyno and it pull 59hp and 56 ft lbs of torq. Thats with zero head work. My best pass was 5.9 @ 61 mph. Could have done alot better with better tires (Sandstars) but I couldnt get my hands on any Hauler extremes before dunefest. You would be pleased with the lectron go for it.
