From HE!! and back in a day.....

This was the worst day that turned into possibly one of the best and LUCKIEST in my life. I was at work yesterday morning and at 7:20am my wife calls me to tell me that my 20' Hualmark trailer with my Sportsman 500 H.O. in it was just stolen. My neighbor heard all the racket while he was shaving and looked out the window to see my trailer leaving but he couldn't see what the vehicle looked only that it had loud exhaust. He immediately called 911 and reported witch way it went. I was driving the 20min home (longest 20min in my life) looking for it on the way incase I see it. When I get to the house the cops have taken almost all the info they need from my wife I just need to sign off that if they find it that I WILL prosecute to the full extent and that I will pay any impound and towing charges. After the cop leaves I decide to just drive around a try and get lucky spotting it. My neighbor own's a little Cessna plane and he goes up and cruises all the main roads out of town at about 500 feet. We looked for about 3 hours and then decided it was just gone! I was just sick. I knew there wasn't enough alcohol in the house to make me feel better so I was debating on going to the liquor store before I even get started drinking so I would drive drunk. I was sitting in my chair just about ready to go to the store and my phone rings. It's the police saying they have found my trailer. I shouted back "IS MY QUAD STILL IN IT???" "Yes sir, your quad is still in there." I was so relieved. I went to where they told me (about 1 1/2 miles away) and they asked me about any other contents. I had my Nikon Monarch Binoc's and my 1000yrd Bushnell range finder in there. The crack-head that took it parked it and cut the pad lock off and took those, a couple of jackets and Coke-a-Cola Zero and a shop light but I was just happy to get my trailer and my quad back. The commander on the scene said they got a description of the vehicle that dropped it off and they have a APB out on it and he was leaving to go back to the station. On his way back he drove by a "possible" that matched the description and he called for the other cops for back up. About twenty minutes later they called my cell and asked me to come by and ID some of the things that I said were missing. When I got there I walked up and seen some of my stuff and the Coke-a-Cola Zero sitting on the seat of the truck. They matched the date code with a can that was left at the scene of where my trailer was found. They also took a paint chip off the trailer hitch where he bumped into that while he was trying to get lined up. My wheel chaulks were siiting on the bed of the truck and my coat hangers where in the front seat. I didn't see my binocs or range finder but the cammander said that when he was driving by he saw this guy unloading stuff into the house we were at. The crack head wouldn't give concent to a random search. After I made positive ID on my stuff that was visible from walking around the truck they cuff ed the guy called in the detectice and started the proccess for a search warrent. I'm still waiting for the call from the Hillsboro, OR Police Dept. to come and ID the rest of my things. They cops had also found on the property stolen motorcycle's, helmets, Warn winches and a lot of other items The Police dept did an excellent job IMO!!
Everything was sooooooooo lucky that I got my stuff back that I can't even believe it. I feel bad for anybody that hasn't got there stuff returned back to them. I've had the worst feeling ever when it comes to this sport. I hope that nobody has to go through it when out having the "luck" that I've had to follow...
Thanks for reading.

When I was 14 I got my first quad, it was a Suzuki 230 Quadsport. It was stolen out of my garage, and I was devistated. That is all that I had, and all that I cared about. 3 months after it was stolen, I picked up a Honda 250X. It was an awesome machine. I decided instead of keeping it in my garage with no locks where the last one was stolen, that I would keep it at my grandfathers locked in his polebarn. 2 months later, it was stolen. I never saw either machine again. I definitely know how it feels to come home to a big loss, so with your case congrads on getting it back. Now that I am 24 and a little more protective, a theif better have a gun on him if I ever catch him in my barn.

Awesome story. The only thing that cound have been better is if they let you beat on the guy a little before they put him in the car. OH well, at least you got your stuff back. We need stiffer penalties for thieves...

SO glad to here you got your stuff back!
I think they should allow us 15 minutes in the cell with these %&^$stards so we could teach them a lesson!

Well the officer that took the report and also the one that found my trailer came by the house on Saturday and gave me an update. The crack head is still in jail with no sign of getting out very soon. This guy had a BUNCH of stolen property at his house including motorcycles, riding gear, tools ect... The officers and detectives were at the house from 11:00am until 2:00am early that next morning. 15hrs on the scene going through the house and contents recording eveything they found. A BIG shout out to them for doing a awesome job. No word on the rest of my gear yet but I'm hopeful that they have cataloged it for eveidence and are using it against this mother trucker.
sandbomber, No word if they found a 760, but when I go to court to prosecute this guy to the fullest I'll ask if they ran across any quads or quad parts in thier search!
Oh, and I did make a make a comment about possibly having a few minutes alone witht his guy to the officers and detectives. I told them that I would just like to "talk" to him for a minute or two about whether or not he should try anything like this again to anybody!!
