The castle nut on the hub? What do you mean, you could have an infinite wall thickness socket and it woud work, just take the wheel off first. . . I must be missing something???

ya, as long as the socket is big enough and the cotter pin has been removed, use an air gun and it should come off easy.

My front hubs are like that, you have to get a really thin walled socket to fit kind of inside the hub and onto the nut... Maybe on the '05s the axle hubs are the same way? My socket just wasn't quite small enough, and I ended up cracking off a bit of the hub. It's the little lip that the rubber hub cover sits on. Come to think of it, perhaps the rear hubs on mine are the same way.

Either way, there will be a socket that fits inside the lip. if you can't find one, or are tired of looing, take the one you have, and pound it inside. Who needs dust covers anyways... :;

I would but the socket i have is way too thick and it almost covers the hole dust protector thingy.

woah then thats way too thick. The one I used was just a *** hait too big, and i probibly had it in far enough to get away with it, but i had to give it more whack.

I'm sure someone close by you will have one, if not, perhaps it's time for that socket to meet the bench grinder and lose some weight... hehe

Sorry, I am of no help. I have an 03 and I guess they are different. I have mine all apart with none of what you describe.
I will ask my friend (Bomb mech) tomorrow if he knows what to do.
