Is 10 pounds really equivelent to 1 HP, or are you blowing smoke?????? If it is true, major weightloss starts now!!!

Weight makes a HUGE difference! Add 50 lbs to your ds and make a run then take the 50 lbs off. I wish I myself, and my quad weighed what my buddies and their yfz's weighed...My ds would be so much faster! The way I look at it, my ds is making a LOT more power than my buddies yfz, who has full HMF/K&N and intake, cam mod, and head porting. My reasoning for this, is we are both neck and neck no matter how we start (rolling/drag start) and my tires are actually slipping a bit due to very little tread depth on my ohtsus. We are neck and neck none the less, and he weighs 45 lbs less than me, and his quad is approx 175 lbs lighter than mine (I have skids/nerfs/pc545 batt and a few other heavy add ons)...that is 220 lbs... Maybe I need to have a 220 lb person ride on the back of his and doing a rolling start drag to see the difference.

Anyway...back to the topic* First off...what happened in the accident, apparently you are ok which is good, but how did the srt-10 fair? and hold up a second...YOU HAVE AN SRT-10?!?! Where is godfrey IL? I am in dekalb, and all of a sudden feel like making a new friend

i took off the factory plastic and ran a cut down rear fender along with removing the nerf bars and front fenders on my stockish ds, this along with losing 40+ lbs myself makes my ds feel like a smaller lighter 450!!

p.s. ang i am now running a 730 hp research motor. but pami stuff can be had thru the bom.

Hey guys. Not trying to start anything here but I got an example of weight and it has proven several times. Here we go. I have a custom built 1987 honda trx250x "remember these", it has 400ex front susp. and a eliminater +2+4 rear axle. Nerf bars, fullskid plate "even comes up in front of front bumbper", rear heavy duty alum swing arm skid and moose bars. Now the engine is a brand new "stock" 1986 honda atc350x with oil cooler. The only mods are Powroll racing exaust, 400ex carb, k+n filter. The stock mainjet was a 147, it now has a 160. OK now my buddy has a 2000 bone stock 400ex that runs super strong. Here's the deal his quad weighs about 380lbs stock, my quad weighs around at least 380-400lbs. I weigh 140lbs, he weighs 220 or so. When we race on the road, I kill the 400 out of the hole and we end up even"this was before it was rejetted". Your thinking SO. Well, when he had his girlfriend on the back of it, we still ran neck in neck on the top end. She prob weighs 150lbs, so does weight really sacrifice power???, because that told me that it didn't make any diff from mid to high rpms. So I think it all depends on surface conditions and traction for who wins a straight away run. I know weight does play a factor as I have also drag raced cars. But I was totally surprized when I saw this, I couldn't believe that his quad would perform like that with an extra 150lbs. This is a true story and if you guys were around here I could show ya. So I guess this sounds crazy, but race someone from about a 20 mph roll and do it again with someone else on the back of the faster quad and see if this happens to you, you may be suprized. Anyways this is only my opinion proved by me. I havn't got to ride my 03 baja yet but can't wait to kill his 400ex by a land slide.

All that sounds good...but, you have to take into account the horsepower that both bikes are making...remember whenever you talk about weight, you also need to consider the horsepower. Its power to weight ratio that makes the difference

That is a true statment, no arguing that. I am not real sure what the HP is on either bike. But I do know that when we drag raced on the street, I beat him out of the hole until going into 5th gear, he then pulled on me until I hit 6th then it was dead even but he was about 2 or 3 bikes infront of me for however far we wanted to go. Now granted my carb hadn't been jetted yet and it was running pretty lean and wasn't pulling rpms very well. But with my friends girlfriend on the back of his quad we went from a roll, about 20mph and I still could not out run him. We have only raced on a dirt drag track since rejetting. But I figured that 1 drag race out of several, with his girlfriend on the back, that I should of out ran him, but I didn't. So this is why I felt weight doesn't play that big of a factor. Trust me, I don't understand why we raced with and without her on the back and my quad still could'nt outrun him. This should've been a weight factor. Enlighten me and make me feel better, please, I would like a good exuse, it has been bothering me for a while now. RUSS
