Hi all - I was dragging a portion of a tree yesterday with my Traxter, when it killed in L1. I tried to restart it, but the motor would not turn over, even though the battery seemed ok. I swapped out a new battery today, and still no luck. I was able to pull-start (cord) it, and it ran with no problem. Hit the starter switch, though, and it only clicks. I did notice that if I pulled the cord (on after TDC of course) with one hand and pressed the start switch with the other, it would actually pull with an assist from the starter, but still does not spin enough to fire up. The starter solenoid on the back of the atv (if that's what it is) gives a good healthy click when the ignition key is switched on, and it sounds as if the starter attempts to engage the motor - but is not able to turn it over.... So - I think that I am perhaps in the clear electically, so that leaves me to wonder about the condition of the starter/solenoid ***'y. Any thoughts??

 

I would think a starter brush is hanging up. It could also be connection issues. Starter is where I would go first.

 

Sounds like it is time to replace the starter.

 

Not at all, my 02 did this and it was the solanoid, bad location, gets all the mud and debris. All you hear is a click click, mine is starting to do it again after 2 years again.

 

Just spotted your post. I have a similar issue with my 02 Traxter. Start clicks, replaced solenoid and same thing, won't start. Starts fine jumpering across solenoid. In my case, all the lights flash on the consule after I hit the ignition and it won't start. How did you rectify your situation?
