ds650 clutch springs???? please help
OK guys, I know this may be old but I looked through some threads for clutch spring info and am still pondering since most of the threads were older. I have a 03 baja that I just got put together and rode for the first time since I have had it for a couple months. I also have just bought a 03 pred 500 and my buddy and I were out riding them and doin a little racing so I could see the diff, and I noticed that the clutch slips a little when shifting hard. Here is my situation. The ds650 baja is bone stock with the stock gearing 16-? with 20" rear holeshots and I only weigh 140lbs " I know I am a light weight but have been my whole life LOL". So what I am wondering is what springs for the clutch wood be best for the cheapest price? My buddy ownes a shop, so I can get barnetts pretty easy. I have heard good and bad about rwr and barnett and whatever else. Note I don't need a work out and I don't want other problems that may occure from a stiff clutch. So I am asking what you guys think. Thanks in advance. RUSS

Ron Woods 60% Would work good for your set up being basicaly stock. The clutch pull is a little heavier than stock and they should hold up to around 60 Hp. I will have an extra set in a couple of days that wont work for me anymore if your interested. PM me

I had the 60% springs. They are murderous on your clutch hand. All my buddies who rode my DS that day agreed it was brutal. Not sure how large of a hand scatterbrain or mrneg have but it fatigued me big time riding the beast. They have 40% stiffer springs and I believe Pami springs would yield a good result (it's what I have on my Stage III).

Im having good luck with the new honda hr4 oil. may try some redline as suggested by TVI. The springs do take awhile to get used to. 40% will work good for your set up also. While your in there you might consider changing out the actuater to one from TVI they have one thats made out of stronger material. about 40 bucks but it will save you a trip in there later as you build more power. Im changing mine out today. It broke a tooth. Im also changing out the clutch and going to Redline springs. Clutch couldnt take the hp. Probably going to have to go with a hydraulic clutch the Redlines I think are 80%. ouch!
