Going racing in North Florida FTR
#1
Whooooo Hoooooooo I'm headed out Friday! It's going to be a long drive as I live in South Florida and the Hare Scramble is next to Tallahassee. 5 hr drive. Then there is another one there the 22nd. That one will be the inaugural "Quads Only" series in Florida. Then, November 5th is at Gatorback in Gainesville!
We had Tim Farr, last year, line up at Gatorback. We've had Yokley line up many times.
Somebody from here sent a friend out last weekend to our first race of the season. Donny Stefani. He had a Predator and did okay until the steering stem got bent. Ouch. He's hooked though. He'll be back.
If you feel like getting hooked and are in the area! Come on!
We are trying to break away from the 2 wheelers that have been hosting the events. It's not easy. We have a point system for year end points awards at our annual banquet.
Anybody know about some aftermarket PCV valves for the vent tubes coming off both sides of the carb? Those tubes end up under the gas tank along with the air box tubes.
When I get in a dusty situation behind other riders and I am WOT, I am sucking in something, causing failure. I end up having to pull over and full choke, WOT to clean whatever is in there, out.
Someone at the event later said "Oh yeah, my friend has a DS and he had to put PCV valves on the tubes.
I shook my head like I knew what he was talking about. Anybody know what he was talking about?

Awesome,
I bet Donny can't wait to do it again!
Please let anyone and everyone know we are for real and to come on out.
Let's see... after Thanksgiving we have Dec 3rd in Sweetwater. That isn't too far for you either.
Make sure to have a tether kill switch and be 96db's or under.
We are also sponsored by Answer and MSR this year.

Mudnuri, I am not sure if a PVC valve will work. PVC valves work by allowing the flow of vented gasses in one direction as in a car. They have a check ball in them that keeps them directional. I would think that the vent tubes in the carb need to flow in both directions. If this is true you would be better off to put some small filters on the end of the tubes like the ones they sell at Auto Zone or Advance. I could be wrong so if someone else would like to chime in.

I think 400EXerciser is on the right track. A filter should work, or you could re-route those tubes elsewhere (say your airbox or something?) The little K&N filters that everyone is using for the crankcase vent breather hose would also work - again you may re-route the hoses so that you can secure the vents in a better location than stock as well.

Okay.
I wasn't sure and figured I'd get the real tried and trued version of what needed to be done. If you recall I was having the same trouble last season and the season before.
It was like I got hit in the head with a hammer when that guy said I needed the filterrs. I went back to everytime it happed.
WOT+ in the middle of a dust train = carb sucking something in and bogging until dead. Then me pulling over watching everybody pass me.
I have written and thrown away many times, a thread thanking members on this site. Thought it was mushy and g ay.
Who cares.
I would like to say then that the members on this site are something else. I belong to many forums. Hands down, this one draws in mostly good people. I work and I race/ride. I am finacially poor so I have to do the work myself.
I have had people like CrackerJack give my money back when USPS screwed up and lost the carb I needed.
Oldmanracing with his carb wisdom help me take it apart and get it back together.
Chiknhawk, who sent me a modified stock endcap so I could try and meet new sound (dB) levels.
Oregondunepatrol for his endless post whoreing.
Hightower for all the suspension questions I bothered him with.
Bombsaint and Blackhawk for words to live by when I was dyin'.
The Phantom, for keeping it real.
That little peckerhead who private msg'ed me and called me q ueeer because that was the best he could come up with after being called out for being a jackbag.
If I kept doing it this way I will miss someone.Like 2big2fast. sandbomber, donal over "there" , roostinonyou. jeffroe vegas650 eaglecollector and on and on from all over the world. And you from Ireland ummmm.. prozak? scooby, 400exerciser, w1ngnut, dune me, jmac650, anniahlator, demonds, sam, entomber, biggerisbetter, scoundrel, cain, bilsds(thanks for the push towards the precision racing steeering dampner!)
Everybody else, too.
I am pumped!! and going take 1/2 day at work Friday to make the trek. The Artic Cat dude is heading out then.
Now I am going outside to remove the radiator. Gotta take the coils off to do it. Gotta take the oil tank off to do that. AAGGGGHHHHH
Then I have to clean the baked on mud out of the cooling fins where the fan meets. :-)
