Hey all, I need your assistance. I am not very mechanicly inclined and am about to start doing some mods on my 05 X. I am changing out to a RWR CDI and not even sure where to start, and am also going to be doing some jetting on the stock carb for my new HMF exhaust I have coming. Any help on how to do any od this would be great.

 

Well as far as jetting the stock carb, the hardest thing will be getting the screws out. At least when I had my 02 they were. Most would just take and cut a groove into the screw head and then take a nice sized flat head screw driver, hit it with a hammer a few times and normally that will break them loose. Afterwards you are going to want to replace them with some stainless steel allen head screws so when you do your jetting they will be easy to get out. Hope that helps.

 

The CDI, if it's in the same place as the '01 model, in on the front of the frame, left side, under gas tank. As soon as you squat on the left side on the machine, you should be able to look up and see it tucked under there. It's a black box held on by 2 screws. Easy to replace.

read oldmanracings post about stock carb mods. that is the best set of guidlines for maximizing power out of a stock carb. use search to find it

 

you need to start doing searches, one i found was call "Removing Carb" good info, also ask a lot of questions, it's cool
