Default Ratchet sound?

I have a new 05' DS 650 with about 6 hours on it. I've been riding it all stock to get it broke in. I plan on doing the suspention adjusting now that it should be broke in. I weigh in at 240 lbs at 6'1". I noticed when I go to go up a steep dune that I will hear a ratchet sound coming from the rear end? Would this be the sound of the suspention bottoming out and hitting the fender? Everything is 100% stock.

If this is the rear suspention bottoming out with the stock tires, how will I be able to run 22" sand stars????????? Is there enough adjustment in the rear shock to make up for my weight? Any info will be great!!!

From my experience that would most likely be your chain roller. Mine use to do that, but only when the chain was too loose, maybe check that first.BTW, a DS will handle 240lbs no problem. When I rode mine I was pushing 330, never had any problems, can't wait to see what I can do now when I get my next DS being 50 lbs lighter......Anyways, good luck!

Thanks for the info, I will take a look at the chain and start there. It only does that sound at the bottom of the dune, when I jump it, it doesn't make that sound.

I have had mine do that when the sand was wet. it would load the sprocket with sand until the chain would skip teeth. the guy I was riding with had the same issue on a banshee. not alot you can do about it. other than going to taller tires. I thought it was something else, until I could here his doing the same thing.

I had a simalar problem on my last trip to the dunes. Could not figure out the issue, but it was wet sand that weekend also. That would really do it. Would have never guessed.....
