Default Nitrous refill bottle

Im trying to figure out how to make my own refill bottle. Boondocker's kit is $400, I was looking at it and it seems you could build one for alot less. It looks like its just a 20lb bottle that has a siphone tube in it, a valve and a high pressure hose to hook up to your bottle and a scale. Has anyone tried this? Is there any more parts Im missing?

Any bottle that is designed for that pressure will work. It also can be gravity fed, just turn it up side down to fill. Go down to the local gas supply house and buy the fittings and hose, and Whalla, instant refill station. Dsa has two second hand refill bottles, me I just shelled out the doe, just not retail though, but still pricey.

If you can find some bottles that are rated for the correct pressure you are set. I got ahold of 2 bottles that are 15 lbs each for a great deal (free) and went down to the hose supply store, I love that place it is called "the house of hose" and got some steel braided lines and couplings for the bottles. Then just go to walmart and buy a fish scale that will measure at least 10 lbs and you are set. If you buy a scal that measures in lbs and oz's then you have to figure out the conversion since the bottles are set up in tenths (6.2 lbs full). Well I hope that helps. I do have to turn mine upside down but it is no big deal and I couldn't beat the price.

I found a 20lb bottle setup for Argon on ebay pretty cheap with the valve. My boondocker is 2.5lbs. overall weight is 6lb. Why would you have to convert to 10ths so my total weight should be 6.2Lbs? I have about 4' of braided hose left over from the Boondocker install. All I need is a couple of fittings and I should be good to go. Im going to make some kind of stand to hold the bottle upside down. Looks like I can build this for less than a $100 bucks. Cool, thanks guys

I use two 20lb bottle to fill my 2 pound bottles. All you need is a scale and a line, just make sure you freeze your little bottle and get the bottle that you are filling from as warm as possible. That way you get a good fill out of it. Keep an eye on the scale and dont over fill to much..lol.nothing wrong with getting an extra 1/2 pound or so in there.

The difference between tenths and oz's is like there is 16 oz in a pound so .5 lbs is 8 oz's so 6.2 lbs is right about 6 lbs 4 oz. It only has to do with what scale you get. I got one that reads in lbs and oz's not lbs and tenths and thats that.

just get a 10 lbs or 20 lbs n20 bottle for automotive applications. That way you have the valve you need. I wouldnt use any other bottle cause you will have a hard time finding someone that will fill them. Go on ebay and look for 10 or 15 or 20 lbs bottles.
