I got a case of the LOW RPM RATTLES???
#1
Well ever since DS DAYS(which was a freaking blast) my '05 DS has had the LOW RPM RATTLING noise when I first start the engine... It always seems to go away after she comes up to proper idle RPM... I understand the cam chain tentioner(or something close) is the main suspect for this symptom, if it is the problem is this something that needs to be replaced before my next trip??? Is it a pretty easy fix for a beer drinking NON-Mechanic? Thanks Boys, Bo

Assuming that the rattle is occuring while in nuetral, sitting still, you probably have a sticky tensioner - very easy and cheap swap out. How heavy is the weight of the oil you are running?
No charge for this one, just send more coffee! That stuff is great! The equivalent of Folgers on NOS...

Could it be the compression release being engaged, or patially engaged? I know mine will do that at very slow idle.
Sunman, how is everything? Havn't heard from you since Sandfest. Did you get your DS fixed? Did you get the pictures I sent you?

Skip the beer Bo, I think you need to be one with the bike. ROFLMFAO

pull the cam chain tensioner for starters and and clean it with carb cleaner and then re- oil it before putting it back in. i have had mine freez up on me after a while of riding and it just needed the grime cleaned off it to get that spring functional again.
