Default Hard shifting.

I got a john deere buck by bombardier.

The shifting on this thing is very difficult to say the least (when you are in say reverse or forward high it does not want to come out).
is it supposed to be this way? or is there some sort of lube i can put on the linkage?

Have you tried rocking the machine back and forth while trying to shift it?

How high is your idle? Sometimes hard shifting is because the idle is set too high. I know when my Suzuki came back from a check-up, the factory had bumped up the idle and shifting which was normally very easy was more difficult. I backed the idle down and no more problem.
I did however read on another thread that the rocking is a widespread fix.
