IMS heelguards
#1
My lovely wife , concerned about my saety, purchased a set of IMS heelguards for me for x-mas. I dont know if anyone has experience with these, I have heard bad things about IMS/AC Racing products in the past, but these things were unbelivable....crap!
Had to re-bend pretty much all of angles on a break to get them even close to bolt on. (Yes I do have the IMS pegs) No installation instructions, not enough or mismatched mounting hardware! Had to run to Lowes and pick up new bolts. The worst part is that there were 4 spacers included, I have no idea what there intended use is but the only way I could make the things fit is to use 2 of the spacers to bolt on the upper portion to the frame, not sure what the other 2 are for or if the alignment was just that far off!
They are finally on though and look great. I just hope they hold up, still waiting for a return call from IMS customer service too see what they will do for me If anything, but these thing are definately not worth the $175 she paid for them

that sucks to hear man, but not surprising. if I had a nickel for every pice of hardware I've bought over the years that didn't fit, I could retire. Exhaust pipes, nerfs, bumpers, skids, you name it, I've been screwed and reemed by them all. graydon, ac, white bros., DG, they've all given me a dry rimjob.

I had the same problem with both my DS and Predator IMS heel guard, They were made by AC for IMS but IMS has stop using them and have come out with different HG. The bad news is that the DS and Predator are the last one to get the new ones. The have them for Honda and Yamaha now.

Update:
So I'm out in the garage yesterday talking to Kelly at KMS on my cell phone, pulling parts off to change the oil and get ready for Dumont in a couple weeks....when I notice the dang things are cracked and broken on the bend that bolts up too the pegs. Talk about peice of crap, one ride was all it took.
I'm sure that it would be useless to try and get a refund out of them, hopefully I can get them re-welded and reinforced.
