It's something I've been wondering since I bought my quad. Have any of you looked into or have had any of your rotating parts (non-engine) spun and balanced. We used to do it religously with our drag sleds and it made an extreme differance. It was kind of a secret trick we did that made a very obvious differance.

Sorry its taken me a bit to reply.
We used to take our cross shafts and clutches to a machine shop (Bick and Hienz) and they would spin them. It was amazing how out of balance the shafts were. So they would either grind or add metal to fix the problem. Same as taking your drive shaft out of your vehicle and having it spun. Ive had a drive shaft made for my Dually that is balanced perfect and filled with a type of hydraulic fluid. When I finally pull the rear axels to do the brakes this year I will have them spun.
I'm not sure I can explain it chris but here in the bomb forum I think it was under piston weights was a good explanation of the balancing part. If shafts or any part for that matter are out of balance, power is lost in the slop, if everything is balanced power goes directly where its intended to go and it will go there alot smoother.
222 knows what I'm talking about, I can tell by the smiley that he is old school. lol
This would also be good for hubs, shafts, sprockets, etc. Pretty much all your rotateing mass / Out side the motor of course. Kinda makes me want to take out my axle and put everything back on it (less tires) and take it to have it spun.
But it also was an old school trick, and with todays high end CNC machines it makes you wonder if its still as necessary as it was years ago, but like I said 222 seems to have done it or is doing it. =]
