I need to know about the ds 650
Hi this is my first post in this forum
i just bought what the guy said was a 01 ds 650 baja however it is just a 00 baja according to the sticker. Someone on here said that the number says when it was built but that may not be the model, how would I tell the model year? I used to drive a honda 400ex and I wanted more power and a better fit, from what I hear the DS is better then the raptor in that department, I only hope that it is dependable like every body says what is your opinion?
I am 6'5 and 270 pounds.
I looked more on your forums, and read that the new ds has different fan mounting than the 00 and 01`s does any body have a picture of the new style?
Also is the fan sensor up on the top right of the machine slightly above the rad or is that what turns the red light on.
Where is the device that reads the temperature and turns on the fan?

Dont know what up with the year.
The 2 wires from the fan that hook into the thermostat area can be jumped from eachother to make the fan work, you can also get a toggle switch from checker and drill a hole in the gas tank cover and run it whenever you want.. Your chain roller is probably smashed and chain is hitting the metal part of the roller. The chain roller is behind your heal when sitting on the bike on the top of the chain up towards the counter sprocket cant miss it. Its the only top roller for the top of chain. If you just got the bike, I recomend flushing the radiator and bleeding it, ALSO check the oil filter screen under the oil tank. Thats most important. good luck

If your DS was built in 09 or later of 2000, then it is a 2001 model. September is when Bombardier starts producing the next years models. My 2001 DS was made in 09/00.
Also the first "Baja" model was released in 2002, the last "Baja" was sold in 2004, and the 'normal' DS was discontinued after 2004, meaning anything 2005 or newer is a Baja X, and the Baja X first appeared in 2004.
