How much would it cost to take a stocker to an 800. Not counting cams, carb, or head just crank cylinder and piston, with labor.

Coefficient of friction reduced with roller bearings and leverage of ft-lbs/min (or hp) increased per stroke by the percentage of length the crank is extended per stroke. The roller bearings help offset the energy required to power the longer stroke, but the roller bearings seem like an efficiency measure in all parts of the cycle. Balancing the lightened extended crank forces seems crucial in making this work reliably. This is a high skilled mechanical/machinest job to be sure and one I have never considered before due to prohibibitive integration builder costs and risks normally associated with custom one-time builds.
Ok, so to summarize...... reduced friction because the stock crank has a bushing where the rod meets the crank pin and the improved stroker crank has roller bearings at that same point. Next the offset between the axis of the crank and the center of the crank pin is increased creating a longer lever for combustion to turn the crank with. This also means that for every inch the piston moves, the crank doesn't move as far. The end result being slower crank speed and faster piston speed with the stroker crank when compared to the stocker.

There is something else going on that makes a stroker better than a big bore for racing applications when comparing similar displacement. (730 big bore vs a stock bore with a 10mm stroker which is also 730)

Anyone have any ideas?

I have gotten into it with a lot of guys on this forum and some of them I respect afterwards and others I don't. Bomber has always been helpful and gracious in every interaction I have had. I know no other way to describe him. I can already tell he is the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back to help you out and I have never met him in person. Not pecking at you Yjacket but is there history here?.................

Bomber, don't get all teary eyed yet. You just haven't said anything I disagree with yet! LOL
