more cooling Radiator or Water Pump

I have seen larger Radiators and Larger Water Pumps for sale for the DS, so which on would perform better< i was told if you move the water too fast it cant disapate the heat right, reason Im asking another DS owner said the same as me our Fans hit on only after 10 mins of riding and are on the whole time while riding, LOL he was a big Hoss also. (thoughts)

if you move water to fast in any engine it wont disapate heat a larger radator would do more good the more area there is for the coolant to flow the more it can be cooled not to say a high flow pump is bad but just might not be needed

I think the more economical upgrades always are attempted first.
I had several heating problmes too .. as I ride HARD... and non stop while others rest...
My fan was on all the time so I went with small MOD's first ... like
Purple ICE products, then the inline cooler, then radiator scoops, then High flow water pump... as price wise that was the path I took.
I saw aftermarket radiators but at this point I am running pretty cool and rarely notice my fan come on any more and if it does ... its justified and does its job for a few minutes then shuts off.
The setup I have minus the larger radiator works pretty well.
I would go that route as it worked well for me and I did not over spend any money.

I have been on a cooling mission since I first got my bike. The fan was always running, even on cool days on high speed runs. I got the radiator shrouds, and like a dumb a$$ used bolts that were too long. These long bolts rubbed a small hole in the stock radiator. I was freakin pissed. I figured that if I had to get another radiator I'd get the PWR. After just about a full season, I am pretty impressed. I didn't want to put the shrouds back on so I figured I would see how it went, then if needed I could put them back on. The PWR radiator without shrouds cools better than the stock with the shrouds. Even with the shrouds the fan would come on after a long ride on the stocker. With the PWR the only time it comes on is after I have to tow a Yamaha back to camp. LOL

Any one put a temp gauge on with ODP water pump yet?? and a aftermarket Radiator from PWR states "Up to 30% more efficient then Standard ". The "up to" part would depend on coolant type, coolant ratios, air flow, out side temp, humitity, etc.

I have a turbo system and can't use the shrouds. I have been wondering about overheating but the fan doesn't seem to run too much as I dune ride in the winter months.
I'm thinking about a larger radiator, just in case, if it will fit with the turbo system.
What about a small oil cooler? That could help also.

Ya know I dont know if a Oil cooler would help much, couldnt hurt, I think a oil cooler would help out a AIr Cooled Motor more. I heard of some guys putting the Aluminum In Line coolers on the Oil lines.

if you remove the wires from your fan thermostat switch and connect them together to make the fan run constant and never shut off (unless you turn the key off) then you will run cooler than you ever had. just try it and see, and if you don't like it hook it back up.
many bikes have the fans wired to just run constant. i now have mine setup this way, and I have never ran cooler. I run so cool that in winter I almost can't get up to operating temp no matter how hard I ride. i think i may install a toggle switch, so I can turn it off in the winter. but this is also with engine ice installed in the system. BTW, supercoolers are the biggest joke since april fools day, mine are going on e-bay because I am embarassed I ever fell for it.
the mechanical thermostat on the DS opens at 185, this is what most motors are deisgned to operate at.
the DS's fan switch does not kick on the fan until 205 degrees. but if you run it constant with no switch, then your motor will not reach 205. just let your fan work for you, and never again worry about overheating if the switch fails, cause you aint using it.

I'm not having overheating problems, but I'm just thinking of ways to avoid potential problems.

I don't want my fan to run all the time as it uses too much energy. I need to keep my lights working on night runs.
