Default Ds Weight Loss program.

Well I finally started the Ds Diet. Just the easy stuff before Planet Sand, after the Races I will start getting serious.

But heres what I got so far.

Stock swingarm, with axle, hubs, carrier, and bolts weighed 68.36 lbs.
My ace fab +6, with axle, hubs, carrier, and bolts weighed 44.94 lbs.

Loss of 23.42 lbs.

Ace fab. +6 by itself (powdercoated) weighed 14.22 lbs

Front fenders with brackets and bolts (removed) 4.13 lbs.

Rear plastics (removed portion) 2.14 lbs.

Heel gaurds with support brackets (removed) 3.63 lbs.

New battery 10.88 lbs.

Marvin Shaw Drag struts (fronts weighed together) 3.52 lbs.

Marvin Shaw Drag strut (rear) 1.56 lbs.

Hpr Drag Pipe (Ugly Stick) with springs and bolts 6.81 lbs.

Weight trimmed so far not including drag struts, or drag pipe. 33.32 lbs.

This is just what I weighed so far. I will try to weigh everything as I go and update.
I do need someone to weigh a stock chain so I can have a comparison of stock to the light weight one.
Brakes, lights, and a few others will be removed after Planet Sand. Then I will start ordering light weight parts.

Thanks Bigbird, I'm betting even with the chain being longer for my +6, that the aftermarket one is lighter than the stocker!!

2big, The brakes, lights, and front bumper are next. I will post the weights.

You can try getting your front and rear hubs turned and lighten also. And some one has the Aluminum rear subframe thats suposed to be 12 lbs lighter, Oh how much weight did you drop on the axle??

The axle I am using is off an 04. My 01, axle was heavier, also using the 04 hubs which where lighter aswell.

Not sure on the exact weight of the axle just yet. But I will be weighing it and the new drag axle as soon as I buy it.

Don't forget to subtract the weight of money you dropped out of your wallet paying for the new parts.....
Just kidding.
I love what you race guys are doing just hope some of it flows down hill to use stockers so we can put our pigs on a diet to. The DS only flaw to me is her weight... and there's only two ways to fix it.
MORE Power
Cut metal off with lighter parts.
Thanks for the great info ....keep it comming.

Yes it does cost money.

But, the plastics, lights, and front brakes are free. I'm sure the brakes will be in the ball park of 20lbs.

Thats atleast 30lbs of dead weight off the ds for free. That would put the Ds under 500lbs fully fueled.

Im looking to put my Ds fully fueled under 350lbs and be able to do some duneing(Im not much of a jumper because of my size but it would be nice to ride out to the race areas). Then I will take it alittle farther. Under 300.
