Open Desert
#1
Its slow today so I though I'd share my trip last weekend. I did some nice open desert riding outside Laughlin NV. First time getting to open her up anywhere outside the dunes. Some real nice fire roads that were pretty smooth. Had a couple 5th gear runs that went for 5 or 6 miles. I had to slow down a little when I had to swerve to miss a washout. We rode down into a killer canyon that had a sand/gravel floor, and sheer cliffs to both sides. Some areas of the canyon had only 20 feet between cliff walls... really cool. I was a little worried about flash floods since they had one of the worst (and only) storms of the year earlier that day/weekend. It was the best hard pack riding that I have done so far... mostly because all I ever ride is dunes... but it was really fun. Just though I'd share.

FatHolly, have you done the canyon run at Ocotillo Wells yet? It's much closer to you.
We'll have to get a group together before it gets too hot and invite all of the DS guys who can make from SoCal to come out and do a nightime canyon run.
