I only run trails and I run them dam hard. Get the suspension set up to your weight and riding style and you won't have any problems. I have only been passed by one quad on the trails and that was a hopped up banshee. The trails I run are 20 and 40 miles long and I run them harder everytime I'm on them. I rarely have to shift below 3rd gear cause of the torque the ds makes. =]

The 700R is a fast machine, and with the EFI will be jetted right on for your riding conditions. My only problem with EFI, is that is you were to change out your exhaust, you would need to purchase an ECU to adjust your fuel mappings in the EFI. THat is a $300 dollar part. Where as jets for the carb are around $3.95 each. I have a full set from 160-175 (missing a 172.5) for quick jetting changes if I feel like there is more. Mine has yet to be on the dyno, it has all been seat of the pants.

You have options on your exhaust for the DS. Stock is not bad, and runs out well. Change your gearing a little and you would not believe what it would do. If you don't want to buy an end cap, or cannot afford one right off, you can pull the stock one and and open it up. I have one or two of those sitting in my garage that keep cutting up my feet. Just that little bit, and my 220lb brother was still out running me with a pipe and filter. I am 290lbs so that did not help.

I have ridden a 700R that was almost as comfortable as the DS.....You just don't want to know what it cost to get it there

Good luck, either way.

I can tell you one more reason the DS is better I have 2 kids and they ride with me and the wife most of the time since they are still young and the DS is perfect to ride with a kid. Look at the differences in the seats and were the exhaust is if you take your kid on the raptor they will get burned on the exhaust. The DS is the best. Thanks

Hey, great feedback guys! This site is really great! I don't know how much money I'll have to mod, but I like to tinker with things so it's good to know that there is a place that I can go to get any and every question answered! I've looked at some of your bikes and there are some pretty sick ones! Where the DS hasn't changed too much since in debut, I'm sure you guys here have all the angles covered.

Great responses, keep 'em coming, everything helps!

please tell me you are NOT riding 2 up on your quad!!!! It is people that do this that constantly give the liberal lawmakers more fodder to cordon off riding areas, place more restrictions on the quads, and make us californians pay for a green sticker every 2 yrs.

stupid hurts!!!

get your kids their own quad.

you are lucky I haven't seen you riding 2 up, I would call the cops!

I am sorry but my kids are only 2 and 6 they have there own 4wheelers. But leagally they are not old enough to ride them. Not that it is up to you what I do with my kids but I take one and my wife takes one and we are not stupid with them we are not out drag racing and jumping we take turns with out the kids doing that and they always were helmets along with the rest of us and personally I don't make you Live
in California so if you don't like the laws there don't live there. I went to Dumont last year and nobody said anything to us about having our kids with us. I don't appreciate you accusing me of putting my kids in danger I WOULD NEVER DO THAT. You have a great day and maybe keep your opinions to yourself if you don't know the situation.

i never accused you of putting your kids in danger, i accused you of breaking the law

people at dumont don't care about our sport. i for one am sick of the black eye our sport gets due to people not observing the law, or not using common sense

there are no age requirements for quads in ca, and i don't have a problem with the laws in ca, but i do have a problem when a law is broken on a quad, or someone gets hurt by not following the laws, how it is sensationalized in the news, making all in our sport look like a bunch of retards.

what is your view on illegal aliens? they are breaking the law, so are you!

There is probably no other sport bike built better or more comfortable to ride then the DS650X....it will hold up well and can take a lot of punishment. That being said, my only concerns are it's overall size/weight and no reverse. I personally have found not having reverse is becoming quite annoying, the size/weight thing doesn't bother me as much when riding out in the open but I scrape quite a few roots etc. on some tight trails, never gotten down one I couldn't get through but have had some close calls. The size can be a factor when transporting more then one quad as well.

Mine is bone stock and feel no need for any extra power, can definately ride wheelies in first and second. $5200 is an AWSOME deal for a X model(your sure it's an X? nerf bars etc.?).

All that being said, if I could get a decent deal on my 04 I'd probably go with a new Raptor 700 but that is simply my preference at this point. The DS650X is due for an upgrade.
