Default Bad experience with BRP

Well back in june of 04, i traded my 2000 scrambler 500 4x4 in for a standard 05 ds 650. so i ordered a quad that i had know idea what it looked like. Well i didn't know what the 05 looked like or ran like. When the 05's finally arrived in the showrooms i got her for a good price. Well now just about two years later i had a hell of a time with it. When it runs it is unbelivable, nothing like it. so comfortable. but when it is in the shop all the time it sucks. Well the problem with it is that when it arrived at the dealer it already had the smallest shims you can put in it for the valves. so they missed it or didn't bother replaceing the head once they found the problem. i didn't figure that out till a month ago. so after the warrenty was up the values went bad they stuck open so they had to be replaced. Then the engine gasket was bad b/c brp put in bad ones and didn't bother doing recall on it b/c only a few had the defective gaskets. then just a couple of months ago i had valve problems again. My dealer keep calling brp and telling them the problem since it started. They said it isn't their problem.
Well good thing i know my dealer good he was able find me a head that had a couple of hours on it but it did the trick. but my dealer has also told me he has never had a ds run as strong as mine. SO Just my luck i stick in over 2 grand where if i got a raptor (that Was my other choice ) i would still have my 2 grand. I have also heard that other guys that have ds try to hurt the ds and just can't do it!! is that true.
If it was not for my dealer i would never get a another brp.

Does any else have had any problems with their ds 650
or is that just my luck???

I hate to have to second that, but I've not had one issue with my '02. Stick with it though, it really is a great bike, even though you might have gotten a bad apple.

99% happy here, the 1% goes to the recall on the 04 baja rear wheel bearings where my dealer recalled my bike, I sent it in, they dismantled it then I had to wait 2 weeks for the bearings to arrive, not happy then and not sure who was to blame because BRP blamed the dealer and vice a versa, all happy now.

i think you endedup with an odd ball. bouht my 05 & rude the hell out of it... no problems.. did motor work & no probs. mine runs VERY strong and would not trade it for nothing.remember, these are built by people & some times they do not care about the quality.(the guy building it),stick with it. you at least have a good dealer as most of them would not have stepped up to the plate as yours did.

Everything that has happen to my bike has been self-inflicked... I've had my bike about about 4 yrs. The motor seems to be strong as hell!

I rode with a guy on Saturday who kinked the rear trailing arm puddle jumping. I ride an AC 650 V2 & another guy on a KingQuad had no bike problems at all doing the same jump. The Bomb800 had to limp back to the truck.... end of his day. Hopefully the dealer will take care of him & we'll get to see more of the 800.
