#1
hi, i have a 2001 ds650 its been running fine until today that when i went to started it didnt want to start. i did everything like i would normally do to start it but when i tried to start it you just here the solenoid click when i press the start button, but nothing else happens.its weird because i rode the bike like an hour prior to this happening. if anybody has had a problem similiar or the same problem or any info that can possibly help i would appreciated thanks.

Check the battery voltage first. It should be about 12 volts. Then check it when you try to start it. Voltage should not go below about 9 volts. If it's below 9 volts, either the battery is bad, or the charging system is not working properly. If it's above 9 volts, then it could be poor cable connections (where cables attach to battery, positive cable to solonoid, cable from solonoid to starter, or the ground to the engine), bad solonoid, or bad starter.
Assuming battery voltage is good, bypass the solonoid. Does it turn over? If it does, then solonoid is bad (assuming 12 volts is present at the solonoid input cable). If it does not turn over, then the starter is probably bad.
Let us know what you find with these tests.

I've had mine and seen others work themselves loose.
Good item to check before every trip.

I checked the battery connections everything is tight. The battery is also new and fully charged,I double checked it with the meter aswell everything shows ok. I thought it might be the relay in between the battery and the starter but its clicking so thats ok. So what i did was disconnect the battery and relay and ran str8 current to the starter with a battery booster same click click.weird so i thought it might be the starter was stuck so i took off the starter and ran current through it and the starter spun perfect. So im figuring its one of the gears that can be stuck. So i got the bright idea LoL of push starting it just to see if it will run and it did, started up fine,so then i shut it off and tried it with the starter and it started up perfect. weird sh*t oh well so far so good.
Thanks for the suggestions

ground cable connections.
Weak battery.

Hope this helps some.
