Starting troubles.

I went out to try and start my DS650 today, and I press the starter, and all it does is, turn the starter. It doesn't turn the motor over, sounds like it isn't grabbing or something. What's my problem? Anyone else have anything like this happen before?

Can you pop start it... that could narrow it down to the starter or related parts. If you can start it then pull the starter out and have a look... its really easy, two bolts and you can get a good look in there.

If its only working some of the time I am guessing that you starter would be your issue. Connect it straight to a 12 volt source, and ground it, to see if its working all the time. That way, you could rule out any wiring problems.

I have had this problem a few times. My problem was in the switch. I have replaced the multi function switch (handle bar mounted switch with starter/headlight buttons) twice now.
I do believe there is a test that you can do in the manual as long as you have a multi meter.
If you don't have a manual drop me a pm and i will copy the pages you need and fax them too you.
Hope This helps
