just got back from a South Dakota ridin trip, had my KMS fuel injection installed right before the trip, overall...
installation took some time due to the guidlines being for a 2001 regular style DS, not the Baja edition, the fuel pump was to be located where the fog lights are so that had to be changed, my radiator scoops were in the way, my carb-to-air box tube was to long and the fuel injection main piece stuck out so far it didnt fit without cutting the bottom of the seat out, and i was surprised that certain questions were not asked before or during the purchase of the system, like those above and...
the need of the stock thumb throttle cable, since i had the TM45.
the gas tank had to be altered, you cant run the reserve screen in the tank b/c of the pressure the injection added, so no more reserve. and that wasnt even in the directions, good thing the guy at KMS remembered to tell my mechanic.
and i didnt know a new gas cap was included, no problems there but was surprising lol.

Starting up is smooth, no gas, just hit the start button and shes alive !! the O2 sensor does not kick in until it hits like 300* or somethin like that but for a DS thats no time at all, she runs so hot, so letting it idle and warm up is key, i have not mapped my system at all due to laptop complications but am planning to do so this weekend, still it ran awesome here in PA and ran even better out in SD, a slight hesitation in 1st gear under like 2k rpms but im thinking the mapping will clear up a lot, it wheelies like it never did before and runs so smooth its unreal, now my mechanic was worried bout my gas mileage going down but i have not noticed that, and would assume my gas mileage to increase a lil from the carb so i dunno bout that... haveta do a full tank - hours test to find out.

I am getting heat shroud and hose covers to protect the important hoses and wiring from the system since they r a lil vulnerable to rocks and debris, a big money investment is in need of protection lol. and i ended up putting my ECU where my headlight goes since i got rid of that a while ago, so i put in a screen at my headlight to protect the ECU from gettin hit with debris. My fuel pump is also getting a cover since its attached to the frame in the front part of the quad, ridin behind someone wit good tires is sure to kick up rocks and sticks so im taking no chances.

So far im very very happy with the system, cant wait to get it mapped and work out the kinks so its smooth sailing and nothing but a powerhouse, then time to race around and test against others to see if she holds up like she used to
