Default TM45 cable routing...

Got the carb on and running well, but not sure if my cable routing is correct. The first try kinked the cable, this time I went off the carb, under the tank to the shifter side by the cdi, looping up over the left side bars to the right side thumb throttle.

Is there a better way?

After trying it many different ways and talking to Jeff Ross and Hightower, I have to say this is considered the "best". So come off the carb, under the crossmember, over the head around the spark plug area to the shifter side of the steering stem, there is a slot there...I believe I go through that and loop it up in a big loop over the bars to the thumb throttle. On my 04 I do have it going through the little tube frame the dash mounts to and it seems to keep it from rubbing on the plastic as you turn. I ran it like this all last year without any problems or it pulling the throttle. Let me know if I confused you...

I can send pics if you want or need.

if you are running a factory bomb cable then it can be routed just as it was from factory if memory serves, but the aftermarket cable from RWR or THEBOM needs to be routed as JMann describes - it is a courser braid and needs the smoothest and widest radius curve you can give it, and it is also longer to accomidate this. trying to run the aftermarket cable same as the stocker will not allow it to be as smooth as it can be and can also lead to a kink.
